Rice to Learn

800 million people go hungry every day. To the truly starving, every grain of rice counts, and now it is easy to give. FreeRice, a program set up by the United Nations, is an effortless way to make a difference from without breaking a sweat. Donating is as simple as going to the website, www.freerice.com, and quizzing yourself on vocabulary. Yes, vocabulary. In an attempt to make giving educational as well as generous, donating rice requires playing a simple game. Choose from questions about anything from math to foreign languages, and click on one of four possible answers. For each correct answer, the program donates 20 grains of rice to a third-world country, and the amount of rice you give is tracked by an aptly designed rice bowl on the side. The rice adds up quickly, and although it isn't a life-amount, it's still something. And it's free.
Brush up on some vocabulary, and give someone a meal.
